No. Baptism is for those who have made the conscious decision to follow Jesus. At Child+Family Dedication the parents are simply dedicating their child(ren) to God, committing publicly to raise them to follow Jesus. At the same time, the church is committing to partner with the parents to bring the child up in the faith.

Typically, we dedicate young children (0-3 years). But we also know of our parents are new to the faith and have never dedicated their children when they would have while they were younger.
